Walt Hollis' Acting Biography
Walt started out in the film industry by signing up at multiple casting companies, to be an extra, throughout 2006. In January 2007, Walt received his first call to work in Cleaner, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Harris. Walt played an off duty cop in a bar scene. Also, in that scene was Luis Guzman, who Walt said, He (Luis Guzman) worked hard to make everyone around him comfortable, so that the final product was a masterpiece.
Walt had been in the Miss USA commercial in 1999, when they had the pageant in Shreveport, LA. He was a bar patron in a club scene and a photographer in a runway scene. Walt had got a taste of the film bug, not knowing that seven years down the road it would hit him again and this time to stay.
Walt then worked as an extra in two more movies in early 2007. He was an airplane passenger in Harold & Kumar 2: Escape from Guantanamo Bay and was a bio-hazard engineer in Stephen Kings The Mist. Walt then met George and Dawn Landrum, with Landrum Arts LA Talent Agency, through an actor he worked with on the set of
Cleaner. Walt then signed on with Landrum Arts LA in the spring of 2007.
Walt then got a featured spot in The Pardon during the early summer of 2007. Here he played the role of Trooper LeBleui. This role made Walt eligible for the popular, Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com). Walt comments about getting on IMDB, I felt like I had just won an award. It was extremely exciting. Walt took off for about two months during the summer of 2007, for his wedding and to spend time with his wife.
After, returning from the honeymoon, Walt auditioned and got his first speaking role in the promotional trailer, Innocents Way, with director/actor Derek Wayne Johnson. Walt played in a supporting role, a character named Ronnie. Following the Innocents Way promo, Walt played a character named Stephen in Days of Winter. Days of Winter was a short film, directed by Chris Lyon, for the Apple Video Contest. This was another speaking role for Walt, where his lines were opposite that of his good friend, McIntyre Bridges.
When 2008 rolled around, Walt started the year working as a stand-in for Dash Mihok, as a character named Cyrus, in The Longshots. The Longshots was directed by Fred Durst and starred Ice Cube, Keke Palmer, and Matt Craven. Walt had the opportunity here to visit with Fred Durst and Ice Cube, learning some valuable insights about the film industry. Walt said, It will definitely be an unforgettable experience.
Next, Walt produced/wrote a commercial for the What Makes El Chico Special? video contest. Walt co-directed the commercial with the director who cast him in his first speaking role, Derek Wayne Johnson. Walt said, I had a script and a story, but I wanted someone with more experience to work with me on the project, so that it would be 110%. After working with Derek (Johnson) in the past, I knew he could take this script and give it a detailed vision. And after completing the project, I can honestly say he hit a home run. I could not have done it without him
Walt started the summer of 2008 filming a promotional trailer, with director Glen Grefe, called The Hurting Kind. Walt was cast as News Reporter Tony Blade. Mid-summer 2008, Walt was declared the GRAND PRIZE WINNER of the 2008 What Makes El Chico Special? video contest. This was Walt's first film award!! He was interviewed on KTBS Channel 3 and had an article written in Gannett's Bossier Voices, following the big win!!
Walt's next project was writing and directing a commercial for another video contest. This video was for Pretzel Crisps. Although he did not act in this video, it was his first project to work as the solo director. Walt spent time fall 08, also, playing a corrupt cop in a film produced by Richard Law called Men of Respect and as a restaurant patron in a local Shreveport commercial for Trejo's Mexican Restaurant.
Walt's most recently completed project is a Doritos commercial, that he wrote and directed for the "Crash the Superbowl" video contest.
